Life’s a journey, can’t see what’s around the corner but we continue on.
I’m grateful for where the path has led and anticipate amazing things around the corner.
The family stats:
Penny-the most amazing partner
Three kids
Calida-coolest person you’ll meet
Clayton-he does it his own way
Anika-raddest person I know
Three grandkids
Athena-baddest preschool teacher ever
Luna-don’t want to mess with her
Jesse-the quiet assassin
The way more boring stats: education and career
Education
Masters in Divinity: Western Seminary, Los Gatos, CA- an incredible program, I learned and grew so much in those three years
Masters of Business Administration: San Jose State University, Lucas College and Graduate School of Business, San Jose, CA- great program and the best part is I made some life long-friends
College: Westmont College, Santa Barbara, CA- beautiful campus, city and great faculty. Life had its ups and downs, but all in all I wouldn’t change a thing
High School: Hillcrest High School, Jos, Nigeria- possibly the coolest thing my parents could have done: move the family to Nigeria
Career
Executive Director at Faith First-Let’s not choose something easy, that would be boring. Address division in society. Let’s get after this!!!
COO at The SHP Foundation-Got to support churches, homeless initiatives and meet some amazing people
Co-Founder at CirrusMD-If you live in Silicon Valley you have to do a start-up. I had the blessing of being part of an amazing founding team. We built one of the fastest growing tele-health companies in the nation. We connect 1000’s of people every day with a live Physician within 60 seconds-no bots, no AI a real doctor.
Executive Pastor-Incredible time, with amazing teams, saw and experienced life change
School Principal-Best job ever, not the easiest but certainly the most rewarding
Sales Rep at FCPA-Lots of meals, golf and selling storage devices
Customer Service Rep at PG&E-This was my third masters degree-a degree in communication and handling adversity and sometimes verbal abuse, “I hope you choke on your next meal” stands out
Boards
Founding Board Member at Coalition Alleviating Poverty-Silicon Valley (CAP-SV)-Ambitious organization addressing poverty in the 20 lowest income neighborhoods in Silicon Valley by connecting churches, non-profits, local government and businesses. Such cool stuff is happening through this work.
Board Member at Missions Door-Great organization serving people around the world and introducing people to Jesus
What interests me:
Listening to music-especially on vinyl
Going to concerts-live events are the best kind of music
Working around the house-I almost never got a list from Pen, I’m already working on it
Traveling to places most people don’t go
What charges me:
People finding and following Jesus-He’s the Way. It’s great when people find His path and walk with Jesus until the end
Helping people work through their stuff and find new ways of living and thinking
Learning from other people
Favorite Vacations:
Best memory: Little Corn Island-turned off the internet, and sat on the beach for 10 days. No cars or motorcycles on the Island-you want to go somewhere you walk or take a boat.
Coolest all-inclusive: San Andres, Colombia-pools, beaches, diving, great food, live music and generous bartenders
Good times: Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua. memories: riding ATV’s, sticking tongue out at school children (it wasn’t me… not saying who it was), broken rocking chair and seasick ferry
Memorable Adventures:
Bolivia-Five days on a boat traveling up a tributary of the Amazon. Anika caught some piranha, we ate cocoa fruit off a tree, had crocodile and saw fresh water dolphins
West Sulawesi, Indonesia-spent nights staying in remote communities, diving off uninhabited islands, waterfalls and the freshest seafood ever
Cuba-amazing people, the ultimate recyclers, beautiful country
Israel-all the history. Walking where Jesus, David, Abraham, Paul, Peter walked is incredible. AND… got tattoos at Razzouk Tattoo, the oldest tattoo shop in the world-they opened shop in 1300-that is correct 700 years ago.
Concert notes:
Best Musician and showman: Prince-Pen and I saw him twice and he was absolutely incredible
Coolest concert memory: Pearl Jam, The Indio Polo Grounds 11/5/93-search “Pearl Jam shoe the shoeless” on YouTube and you’ll get an idea of the night
Loudest show: Smashing Pumpkins, UCSB Gym 10/23/93
Favorite memories: every Grateful Dead show
Biggest concert regret: I don’t want to talk about it
